Israeli ambassador presents credentials-Israelis interested in Seychelles, says new ambassador |07 November 2007
It is therefore not a wonder that with the recent introduction of charter flights from the Middle East country, Seychelles has become a favourite destination for many Israeli tourists.
H.E. Jacob Keidar said this at State House yesterday after he presented his credentials to President James Michel, becoming Israel’s fifth ambassador to Seychelles. He later held discussions with Vice-President Joseph Belmont.
“Seychelles is one of the most beautiful places in the world and it is safe and secure and once Israelis find a place like that they like to visit it because they like to travel,” the new ambassador said, talking of the unique nature, climate, wonderful sea, diving and sunbathing opportunities.
“In Israel there are all sorts of problems. You need to relax sometimes and this (Seychelles) is a wonderful place to relax,” he said, describing relations between Seychelles and Israel as very good.
Ambassador Keidar said that during his tenure of office, he expects cooperation to centre on training in health care, agriculture, search and rescue among others areas, through increased exchanges, and also expects an increase in charter flights to Seychelles from his country.
Mr Keidar, who replaces Ambassador Emmanuel Seri, will also be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
